A fictional biographical drama from the writer and director Sudha Kongara. Her way of writing and bestowing the movie was fabulous and realistic. Suriya Sivakumar, Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Paresh Rawal has done a pivotal role in the movie. The flick was released in Amazon Prime video as an exclusive premiere with a runtime of 153mins. The movie was supposed to release on Prime at midnight on the 12th of November 2020 but then again due to the early release in the pirated website, the movie was forced to release at 10 PM on 11th November 2020.

Nedumaaran Rajangam a.k.a Maara (Suriya), arose from a small village called Solavanthan near the city Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He came from a family of teaching, as his father was a retired teacher who hard worked to bring electricity, make the train stop in their village station. He had an aim to start a low-cost airline to empower the poor to commute in flight. On the other hand, Sundari a.k.a Bommi (Aparna Balamurali), a self-made woman who has her dream to start a bakery and make it succeed.

They both married, she backed Maara on both his fall and his accomplishment. Maara, according to him, his dreams of starting a low-cost airline are effortlessly achievable but he faces so many hurdles which are mainly from Paresh Goswami (Paresh Rawal), the frontrunner of the aviation Industry. He put so much of stoppage on Maara’s steps with the help of the officials to end his dream as if his dream prosper, the whole realm of aviation will see an insurgency.

What actions does Maara take to achieve his dream forms the rest of Soorarai Pottru.

The movie was inspired by Captain GR Gopinath’s “Simply Fly” and stories from the aviation Industry. Shalini Usha Nair has done the screenplay. The duo of Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair has created an engaging screenplay where time flew at the speed of a fighter jet. Like other Sudha’s movies, this movie has given more uncontrollable emotions without disturbing the speed of the screenplay. The cinematography was vivid in all the places gives a lovely feel of the movie-watching experience. The CGI was good and felt flawless. The movie also provides equal importance for all characters.

Suriya’s acting as Maara was spellbinding. His way of tailoring himself for a character by becoming the character was perfect, his screen-presence was flawless. At one point in time, I thought he is the real Gopinath. After NGK, a solid performance by Suriya. Both Suriya and Sudha have crafted the role of Maara to keep the entertainment going flawlessly. Sundari (Abirami Balamurali) on the other hand, steals the screen with her engrossing performance and made an impression on the strong women characters on screen. Urvashi, Wonderful and emotional performance. I liked the emotional scene between Suriya and Urvashi on the condolence of his father, the scene will make a hard stone to weep.

Apart from Suriya and Abirami's performance, Kaali Venkat, Karunas, Poo Ramu, Vivek Prasanna have done their part very well. G.V.Prakash Kumar music and the background score have traveled with the movie and matched picture-perfect. The dialogs are sturdy and have given a strong footing to the screenplay.

It was a hard decision to release such a perfect and much-expected movie in direct OTT. If this movie released in theatres, surely it would enter the blockbuster club like his older movies. Anyway, 2D Entertainment and Suriya did not trust his fan people whether they come to theatres to watch his movie or not in this situation.

Overall, Soorai Pottru: A cloud9 experience for its package of emotions, action, and thrill.
