The movie is produced by Shahrukh Khan under his banner Redchilli Entertainment which is set to be the third collaboration with Netflix after Bard of Blood and Betaal. The movie has a crisp runtime of 98mins, Netflix has dubbed the movie to Tamil and Telugu languages. The dubbing is well and good, We saw the movie in both original and Tamil dubbed language as well.

STORY

Class of ‘83 goes back to the ’80s when Bombay was going through a huge shake on violence. Cotton mills and their dependencies were being ground to the dust through a combination of political tricks and powerful real-estate sharks who were trying to acquire the vast lands to make illicit money into the heart of the city. Fighting between old and newly originated gangs. The people still believed in law and order. Police officer Vijay Singh (Bobby Deol) who got appointed as a dean to Nashik Police academy as a punishing posting. He was the straight spine, having personal strategies, work alcoholic came on punishment posting due to political tricks on a gang shootout got eyes on five last benches of the class of ’83 batch named Surve, Jadhav, Shukla, Varde, and Aslam, who are smart, brave, unity, loyal to one another and trickeries in covering their tracks. He started to personally train the five along with other cadets to make them as an anti-corrupt officer to avenge his unfinished business.

SCREENPLAY

Class of ’83 started with a great hype of narrating the story by Aslam towards Bombay city, Police academy, and particularly about their dean Vijay Singh. The entry of Bobby Deol was subtle with his thick mustache. No depth in showing the scenes of the training which is one of the negative to the screenplay. When they joined the task force, the screenplay was on jet speed in showing the fall down of the Kalsekar gang. The few minutes of screenplay completes 5 years of timeline which I felt very skeptical. The climax was really bizarre, Despite Kalsekar gangs are dead, the head should have at least few with his payroll as his bodyguard, but none turned up, the climax ended in a swish which will make us, Why the director has given a lot of build-up for this guy. Rushing screenplay which made the movie very cynical.

The Classroom scene - Bobby Deol

HIGHLIGHTS WHICH I LIKE FROM CLASS OF '83

The scenes in the classroom, where the three will give the reasoning for their previous night activities. The scene where they take down one of the key members of Kalsekar gang and covers their tracks in a great manner. It was really astonishing. The dirty Harry joke, fighting’s for encounter credits were very uncertain while watching, for the viewers they have joined in a task force for taking down the gangs, but 55,62 encounters– When it happened boss???

The Team 5

ACTING AND CASTING

Bobby Deol’s first movie on OTT, he did his facet very well but I personally feel that the director should have added more scenes to him as he was sitting idle most of the time. Characters of Surve, Jadhav, Shukla, Varde, and Aslam was a plausible.

Rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐

MUSIC AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS

Music has given it’s best for the movie but not an appreciable one. Visualization has done a great job of bringing down the 80’s. The color-coding was perfect, feels the old Bombay.

Music and Other Departments: ⭐⭐⭐½ (Rating:3.5/5)

CONCLUSION

Class of ‘83 has a lot of skeptical screenplays that may weaken the main plot, but the movie is engaging to watch if the noes are set aside.
